A spirit of resurgence marks the 74th anniversary of the establishment of the Italian Republic on June 2nd.
The Covid-19 pandemic, which manifested itself in Italy with early virulence, activated an outpouring of goodwill from all over the world, including Taiwan. Solidarity has been expressed through donations of medical equipment and financial support. In particular, aid came from the Taiwanese Catholic community out of gratitude for the meritorious activity carried out locally over seven decades by Italian clergy and missionaries. This outpouring of solidarity has highlighted both here and in Italy a selfness commitment confirming a wider favorable disposition existing in the Taiwanese society vis-à-vis Italy for which this Office is grateful.
This wave of sympathy provides renewed incentive for increasingly advanced collaboration in the established areas of activity of the Italian Economic, Commercial and Cultural Promotion Office. Efforts are underway to reactivate the customary strong cultural and tourism exchanges in order to facilitate the safe travel of the many Taiwanese who annually visit the many Italian artistic and cultural sites.
